Wisconsin Heights facilities referendum fast approaching

On Tuesday, October 20, the Wisconsin Heights School District will hold a virtual community discussion on the District’s $27 million referendum plan going to voters on November 3. The session begins at 6:00 pm via Zoom. The link to the session is on the District website (https://www.wisheights.k12.wi.us).
There will be a presentation about the referendum project as well as responses to questions that have previously been posted by community members about the plan. There will also be an opportunity for more questions and discussions with District representatives.
If approved, the referendum proposal would consolidate District operations into one campus with the construction of an elementary addition at the current middle/high school site. The two existing elementary schools – Mazomanie and Black Earth – would close. The plan also includes updating and renovating infrastructure at the middle/high school building.
Both elementary school buildings need a significant financial investment to replace infrastructure, and such an investment would not include updating the facilities to meet the needs of modern educational practices. Construction of an elementary addition would allow the District to offer students an enhanced educational environment at a central Pre-K-12th grade campus and reduce operating costs.
