Bernadine “Bernie” M. Limmex
Bernadine “Bernie” M. Limmex, died peacefully on June 10, 2021, two weeks after her 90th birthday. She had been residing at Greenway Manor in Spring Green during the past two months. Bernie was born on May 27, 1931, to John J. and Rose M. (Hetzel) Lins. She was raised in a loving family along with 11 siblings on a farm near Plain. She graduated from Saint Luke’s High School in Plain, then began her first job as an office assistant for a medical practice in Richland Center. Bernie met Vincent Limmex, a dashing young man home on military leave. They corresponded during his overseas assignment and married on November 8, 1954. They lived in Virginia while Vince was in the Army, returned to Wisconsin and purchased a farm in Wyoming Valley where they raised their family. Bernie was a dedicated mother and homemaker. Despite her busy days, she always found time to read aloud to her children, instilling a love of books and education for their lifetime. When her youngest reached school age, she shared her love with numerous foster children, finding special joy in caring for infants. At age 55, she began a new career working at Lands’ End for 17 years. Bernie enjoyed reading, music, dancing, fishing, large puzzles, a good game of Scrabble or Cribbage, a spirited game of cards, and was an accomplished seamstress. She was actively involved in leadership roles for the Sauk Deanery Council of Catholic Women, High School Wrestling Parent Volunteers, the Wyoming Valley 4-H club, and served as the town clerk for Wyoming Township. Most of all, Bernie truly enjoyed spending time with her six sisters, sharing stories, bonding with laughter that would bring tears, eating great food, playing various card games, and taking trips together to a local casino. Bernie is survived by two daughters, Maureen (Wayne Lemens), Beth (Jesse Lamsam); six sons, Thomas, James (Connie), Philip (Cheryl), Matthew, John (Laura), and Martin (Vicki). She loved being “Grandma Bernie” to, Andrew (Laura) and Meghan Lemens, Amelia (Weston Pickhinke) and Joe Lamsam, Jacob (Rachel) Limmex, Jason (Josie), Chris (Ashley), Ben (Natalie), Jeff, David, Austin, Nathan, Tiffany (Ben Connolly) and Tasha Limmex, Levi, Addie (Corey Sudhoff) and Rachel (Tyler Postman) Limmex, Adriane, Zachary, Stephanie, Isaac, Vincent, and Elias Limmex; and seven great-grandchildren.
