Jay Jacoby

It is with great sadness that our family announces Jay Jacoby (age 74) has passed away on September 12th, 2026 after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn, sons Jared (Leah Cummings) and Jeff Kristin), five grandchildren: Tyler, Greenlee, Eloise, Rae and Reese, who are the light of his life, brother Randy (Geri)and sister Mary Kraemer (Darrell), also numerous nieces and nephews who were a source of much joy.

Jay was a proud member of the armed forces, serving in the Army and Army Reserves for over twenty years. He was also honored to be a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 253, were he served as post commander.

His greatest source of pride was his thirty-six years of sobriety, with much support from the Monona Serenity Club and the special friendships formed there.

A private gathering will be held at the Monona Serenity Clubhouse on October 11th from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

Above all, Jay cherished his family and friends. He could always be counted on to help, even if he grumbled about it. At family gatherings he would entertain with endless stories (or the same story multiple times).

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on October 18th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Deforest Fireman’s Park (300 Jefferson St. Deforest Wi 53532).

Jay will be remembered as a loyal father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Those who knew him recognized that he was born in the wrong era…he should have been a cowboy.
