Wild and orchard apples are one of the white-tailed deer’s favorite autumn foods. This herbivore usually waits until the pomes fall to the ground and then simply stands under the tree and picks the fruit up and chews a bit before swallowing the apple whole.

Fermentation Fest returns this year with a special Spirits Edition.
The celebration will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 7 and 8 at Witwen Park, S9885 Highway E, Sauk City.
The weekend will feature art, food, music and classes about all-things fermentation.

Thomas Cox has taken the helm of Sauk County Development Corporation (SCDC) as executive director.
Cox is out and about in Sauk County, trying to embody SCDC’s mission “to promote and retain the diverse economic vitality of Sauk County and its individual communities.”
